Professional Profile

Compassionate. Energetic. A reliable team player who is disciplined, operates with integrity, accountability and independent decision-making skills. Effective at building rapport with patients and collaborating with all levels of professionals to meet common goals. Maintaining a desire to learn and challenge oneself in new roles through a demonstrated pattern of professional growth.

I possess a passion to provide patient and family centered care; an ability to multitask, critically think and problem solve; professional judgement backed by experience to ensure appropriate allocation of staff to balance unit capacity and workflow; demonstrate flexibility and commitment to change processes; and the ability to function with a high level of respect and collaboration within a multi-disciplinary environment.

My role as co-implementation lead for Connect Care, Inpatient Women’s Health has provided the opportunity to manage and facilitate changes to structures, processes and procedures. Ensuring that provision of high-quality patient care is upheld, patient/family experiences remain positive, and resources are allocated to achieve said changes.

My time spent in the charge nurse pool has provided me with numerous opportunities to align my leadership skills and vision with the facilitation of patient and family centered care. Through both experience and leadership education I have developed an awareness of workplace culture and the impact emotional intelligence plays in creating effective positive workplace environments and cultures. This new role will provide the opportunity to implement skills obtained through my clinical experience, numerous preceptorships and supplemental knowledge through self-initiated education.

The skills acquired from my experience are as follows:

  • Assess competing priorities with various members of the perinatal health team and foster decision making within this environment.

  • Effective communication skills and strategies, both in-person and via technology, aimed at team member engagement, project management and conflict resolution. With an awareness of the environment surrounding conversations and interactions.

  • Managing unit resources, flexing staffing ratios, adapting to unit workflow and capacity while maintaining patient safety and outcomes at the forefront of all decisions.

  • Expanded knowledge of Connect Care functionalities and utilization.
